From Engelberg via Ober Stäfeli and Gorisegg (Normal route) Grassenbiwak SAC 2647 m

- 4:45 h, 1590 m
Steep and narrow
The ascent to the bivouac on the Grassen is certainly not a walk in palk. The rock ledges that have to be climbed can be dangerous when wet, though the most exposed are equipped with fixed ropes. High up, just before you reach the the cosy bivouac box, the path runs over the sharp northeast ridge of the Tierberg. This airy section is narrow and somewhat exposed. Fortunately, again, fixed ropes help in the most exposed areas. Once the bivouac is reached however, you can enjoy the breathtaking view surrounding the Titlis massif.
Route description
Fürenalpbahn valley station - Bridge to Goldboden
From the Herrenrütiboden car park (Fürenalp cable car / P. 1083), follow the hiking trail to Herrenrüti (1166 m) and cross the Engelberger river on the bridge that leads to Goldboden-Alp.
Goldboden - Firnalpeli - Ober Stäfeli - Gorisegg - Tierberg - Grassenbiwak
The white-blue-white marked path climbs to Firnalpeli and Ober Stäfeli and leads up onto the moraine of Gorisegg. Continue, following faint tracks directly upwards through a rock ledge (slippery when wet). The increasingly narrow northeast ridge of the Tierberg leads you up the bivouac on the summit's south side.
