Bettlerstock 2100 m Route archive

Hardly any other climbing area in Central Switzerland can be so fully praised as a year-round spot as the south side of the Bettlerstock in the Brunnigebiet above Engelberg. In the summer due to the altitude it is refreshingly cool; in winter because of its southern exposure and the wind-protected hillside it becomes quickly snow-free and pleasantly warm. The slender, 50 m high rock needle at the foot of the Rigidalstocks is easily accessible from the Brunnihütte SAC (open all year) and is almost effortless in winter thanks to the ski lift. It offers varied, mostly athletic wall climbing, mainly between grade 6a and 7a, on iron-hard high mountain limestone with many razor-sharp water pockets. In summer 2021, engelbergmountainguide.ch set up two new abseil lines.

Looking for some more accessible climbing opportunities for less travelled sports climbers? You can find these behind the lower crag: as well as some western-oriented routes on the main tower, there are also three simple, south-facing routes on a neighbouring rock ridge
