In winter skiers and snowshoe hikers flock to the summit. There are good reasons for its popularity: the ascent is multifaceted on perfect skiing slopes, and the landscape deep in the Kiental is unique. If the conditions are safe, the terrain allows demanding alternative descents. Please respect the permitted itineraries in the Kiental no-hunting area.

Route description

Tschingel - Griesalp - Bundstock

From the parking lot at Tschingel (ca. 1160 m) follow the steep road up to Griesalp (1408 m). Pass the hotel and take the summer trail through the forest to reach the Dündenessli clearing. In the clearing ascend south-westward to the hairpin bend at P. 1533. Follow the forest road for a short while, then take the summer trail again to reach Dünde Mittelberg (1725 m). Ascend south-eastward, pass an escarpment on the left to reach flatter terrain between two creek ditches. Continue in the same direction to the foot of the triangular Dündenegg. Traverse south of P. 1979 to reach the ridge with the summer trail. Following the summer trail (if the conditions are absolutely safe, a direct line is possible), ascend to the eastern foot of Ryssends Hore (2521 m). Along the steep rocks ascend southward to the end of the cirque to reach Bundstocksattel (2685 m), passing a rocky knoll to the south-west. Now turn right (westward) to follow the ridge, overcoming an escarpment, until the Bundstock east summit, which is the target for a ski tour. The highest point P. 2756 further west is only insignificantly higher.

Descent

Descend on the ascent until a rock tower. From there you can ski down the wide north-east-facing slopes of Bund to Underi Bundalp (1687 m). From there it is best to follow the alp access road back to Griesalp and continue on the road to the starting point. If the conditions are safe, you can ski down via Bärentritt (described separately).
