The approach from Bristen to the Camona da Cavardiras offers a wealth of natural beauties. The many streams gift numerous waterfalls, making this long climb an captivating affair. A break at Alp Stössi or the Hinterbalmhütte are useful for replenishment.
Route description
Bristen (Golzern) – Alp Guferen
A wide hiking trail leads from the bus stop at the valley station of the Bristen – Golzern cable car (832 m) along the Chärstelenbach stream into the rear Maderaner valley via Balmenschachen and on to the Alp Guferen. Up to Guferen (1275 m) there is a possibility of taking an Alpine taxi (reservation tel. +41 41 883 18 08 or +41 79 271 81 57).
Alp Guferen – Hinterbalmhütte – Camona da Cavardiras CAS
From Guferen cross the bridge and head along the north bank of the Chärstelenbach (stream) to the huts of Blindensee (1374 m). Cross the Chärstelenbach again and follow the steep path via Bärenchäle to Alp Hinterbalm (1820 m). The path now leads into the Brunnital valley, past Waltersfire and Bocki to the morrland of Brunniboden. Head south past Brunnistafel (2061 m) then cross the Brunnibach (stream) to reach the step of Bündner Biel via Ochsenplanggen and Griess. Climb the step to P. 2485 (safety cables), cross the basin to the southern rocks of Gwasmet (P. 2602). Finally turn left (E) and cross the Fuorcla da Cavardiras to reach the hut (2652 m).
