At first the itinerary is on the road to Solalex, then along the south face of Les Diablerets. From Anzeinde it ascends to Col des Essets and then through the Paneirossse valley across a glacier, which is disapperaing due to climate change.
Route description
La Barboleuse - Solalex - Cabane Barraud - Col Sud des Chamois
From the railway station of La Barboleuse follow the road which leads to the skiing area of Les Chaux. After 2.5 km (P. 1272) take the road to Solalex (1469 m); the hairpin bend after the bridge at P. 1345 can be cut short. Continue at first on the road; from P. 1536 on the trail on the right (N) bank of Avançon d’Anzeinde to the hamlet of Anzeinde (1876 m). Now turn southward to pass Refuge Giacomini, leaving Cabane Barraud on the right. Ascend to Col des Essets (2029 m) and proceed into the Paneirosse valley. Continue to ascend through the small valley below the face of Ecuelle and carry on into a depression. Now traverse the Glacier de Paneirosse. Continue obliquely on an ever steeper slope (35° on 80 meters of vertical height) and up to Col Sud des Chamois.

The accomodations at Anzeinde are closed in winter. The key to Cabane Barraud (1956 m) at Anzeinde can be obtained at: www.cas-diablerets.ch/barraud.htm. The road is open as far as Cergnement.
