The view deep down to Walensee, the perfect summit slope and the Café at Hüttenberg are the highlights of this tour. With high fog it is a ski tour on the shores of a sea of fog, in sunshine Walensee appears to be a Norwegian fjord. Depending on the conditions, the summit can be reached on skis or on foot; in either case just follow the easy to ascend north-east ridge to the top.
From the Obstalden, Post (685 m) bus stop, follow the road to P. 705 at the edge of the village. In pastures ascend southward to P. 780. Continue on trails via Schwändeli and Guggen to reach P. 1032 at Hüttenberg (up to this point the road is ploughed and is accessible by car). Now on the forest road go horizontally to Ammelin (1060 m). After the bridge leave the road to ascend south-eastward towards Chratzegg, which you cross eastward before reaching Altstafel. Ascend east-south-eastward the clearing of Laui to reach Firzalp and the north ridge of Firzstock south of Wanne at ca. 1800 m. Ascend as far as possible on the ridge.
The last metres to the highest point are most often negotiated on foot.
