Route description
Leglerhütte - Chli Kärpf
From the Leglerhütte (2271 m) follow the white-blue-white marked footpath up onto the Unter Kärpf, then along its flat-topped ridge to reach the northwest ridge of Klein Kärpf via scree slopes. The short, vertical section in the northwest ridge is equipped with iron steps and a rope. After this, the summit is easily reached.
Chli Kärpf - Kärpfscharte - Pt. 2610 East Ridge Gross Kärpf
Descend the white-blue-white marked track to the Kärpscharte. Then, continue in a south-easterly direction to reach the saddle before P. 2610, and the foot of the Gross Kärpf, over an initially wide, then narrowing scree covered ledge
Pt. 2610 on the East Ridge of Gross Kärpf - Skidepot
Climb diagonally left up the following scree slope. Continue up to its highest point and into another short slabby chimney (iron bars), and bear left onto the south ridge (ski depot in winter) and the normal route.
Skidepot - Gross Kärpf
Climb the first hard steps of the south ridge, later bypassing the steeper section by moving onto the south wall (iron bars) and reach the summit in easy climbing.
Variant: P. 2610 - Normalroute - Gross Kärpf
You can also traverse from the saddle at P.2610, down across screes and onto a ledge, before climbing up the easier south facing rock bastion to gain the ski depot.
