In Italian Schinhorn is named Punta di Valdeserta. It is a striking summit made of a huge standing slab. To the north it shows a vertical wall dropping off to Schingletscher. To the E Ghiacciaio di Valdeserta (glacier without a name on the map) covers the upper valley of the Rio di Valdeserta.
