The normal approach to the Hundsteinhütte leads through the steep and shady Brüeltobel before the landscape opens up after the Plattenbödeli. After a short descent along the Sämtisersee, there are two options: a comfortable one via the road to the Bolenwees and a steeper one through the Stifeltobel. The final meters to the hut, which is delightfully situated above the Fälensee, are again together.

Route description

Brülisau - Plattenbödeli- Bolenwees - Hundsteinhütte

From Brülisau (921 m), a flat road leads south to the entrance to the Brüeltobels (Pfannenstiel parking, barrier). A gravel road climbs steeply through the Brüeltobel to the guesthouse at Plattenbödeli (1279 m) before descending to the Sämtisersee (1207 m). From the Töbelihütte, continue through the Rhodenwald and past Furgglenalp to reach the Bollenwees Berggasthaus (1470 m). From here, the marked mountain path leads to the Hundstein (mountain), but first the hut at P. 1553.

Sämtisersee - Stifel - Hundsteinhütte

From the Töbelihütte, you can also continue along the valley floor, before climbing a steep forested ridge (160 m elevation) to just before the Bollenwees Berggasthaus, where (P.1479) you can turn right and join the normal path.
