The route is mostly exposed to the north-north-east, which translates into good snow conditions. The itinerary through clearings and forest with rather gentle slopes makes it relatively safe as long as the weather and avalanche conditions are generally favourable. Although the slopes are rather gentle, the upper part, exposed to the east, requires caution in case of a thick layer of snow.

Route description

Etivaz - Tête à Josué

From L’Etivaz (1140 m) on the right bank of La Torneresse go to the second bridge (1177 m). Cross the creek on this bridge and go to Cierne du Pont. Now ascend to the left (ESE) on a path which traverses two smaller forested zones leading past Pâquier Geneyne (1318 m) to Alpe Croset (1623 m). Continue in the same direction through a clearing as far as Entre deux Siex (1798 m). Now ascend the knoll with P. 1979 or traverse its W face to the terrace at the foot of the summit slope. Ascend southward for a short stretch, then follow the E crest to the summit (2131 m).
