This is a well-known and very popular ski tour, where the snow conditions are often very good. The itinerary is through a wide side valley of Val d’Entremont with large slopes, which are ideal for skiing.
Route description
Bourg-Saint-Bernard - Combe de Drône - Les Monts Telliers
From Bourg-Saint-Bernard (1914 m) go to the north portal of the road tunnel where there is parking. Follow the road to the bridge at Maringo (1978 m) and cross the Dranse d’Entremont. Ascend south-westward to the chalet at La Pierre (2039 m) and, slightly steeper, through the Combe de Drône. At first the valley leads south-westward, then it turns sharply north-west. Follow the entire valley or the well visible ridge on the right side until Petit-Lé (2581 m). From here continue northward to a wide plateau at the foot of the SE pillar. Bypass the pillar to the right and enter the bowl on the E face. Ascend the bowl on a last steep slope which leads to the ENE ridge (ski depot). A last, exposed stretch brings you up to the summit.
Variant: via Grand Lé
The Combe de Drône can be ascended on a well visible ridge on the right side of the valley.
Descent
On the ascent; the upper slopes consist of wide terraces, where the trail can be broken depending on the snow conditions.
