Route description
From the top station of the Gandegg – Hockenhorn cableway (3086 m) descend the (black) Petersgrat slope down over the impressively steep Milibach glacier and then follow the «red» Milibach slope left (E) and round the corner to below the Märbiglücke (2944 m). At approx. 2720 m, slap on your skins, then head northeast along the south-west flank of the ridge line. A steep section (50 m of 36 °) brings you to a saddle northwest of point 2910. Continue (as economically as possible) north-east over the remnant Tennbach glacier to reach the Tennbachlücke (3107 m). From there maintain an altitude of ca. 3100 m and cross the Tellingletscher, beneath Elwertätsch and Birghorn and up onto the impressive broad glacier hump back of the Petersgrat (3202 m). Descend northeast over the gently sloping glacier to the hut.
Ski down the blue Wissis Täli slope from Gandegg to 2600 m in the Milibach, attach skins, and move across into the hollow west of the Stieltihorn (2749 m). Climb this short steep step northwards, past P. 2910 and join the route from the Hockenhorngrat, somewhere in the fall line of the Sackhorn.
