The Muttseehütte SAC lies on the plateau of Hüenderbüel, on the path to the Kistenpass. The nearby Muttsee, its surrounding plateau and the panoramic view from the Ruchi over Biferten and Selbsanft towards Clariden all give character to this special landscape. During construction of the new Linth-Limmern power station, the old route through the tunnel was blocked. In remedy to this, the much more beautiful path over Chalchtrittli was greatly improved. Furthermore, since construction work, the Muttsee area has no longer been grazed by sheep. The meadows are hence gaining in diversity, and wild ibex may even be stumbled upon, munching or resting right beside the path.

Route description
Follow the well-marked and developed footpath through steep terrain to Chalchtrittli, cut back along the ridge to P. 2237, then make a slow rising traverse eastward to gain the Muttenwändli (a small cliff band). Cross the top of the cliff band, then zig zag sharply up (do not continue onto the steep west-facing flank). Finally skirt round the very top of the scree mound before a short descent brings you to the high plateau of the Muttseehütte SAC.
