Nordend impresses with its bold and imposing appearance. Cradled by the Monte Rosagletscher to the west and with a large, unnamed rock bastion dominating its NW slope. Dropping to the E is a huge escarpment of steep rock faces, icy couloirs and jumbled glaciers - a little further down is the verdant Anzasca Valley. The normal route should not be underestimated, the ridge from the Silbersattel often proves challenging.
