Beautiful like an angel

Alp Flix with its overwhelming diversity of plant life is a hiking destination in its own right. For those who not only want to enjoy the beauty of the high moor landscape, but wish to climb an attractive mountain, Piz d’Agnel is their first choice. The ascent is demanding, but exciting and rewarded by a splendid panorama.

Route description

Alp Flix - Lai Blo

From the Piz Platta mountain hostel follow the creek fairly steeply up to a beautiful pasture. Past Malpass (P. 2504) ascend to the pretty mountain lake Lai Blo.

Lai Blo - Fuorcla da Flix - Piz d'Agnel

From Lai Blo hike up the talus on a well visible path to reach the saddle east of P. 2739 on the south-west ridge of Piz d’Agnel. From the saddle ascend steeply, but without scrambling, on the ridge to the steep talus below the summit. Either directly or making the short detour via Fuorcla da Flix you reach the summit.

Descent

On the ascent

Variant: ascent from and descent to Julier Hospiz via Fuorcla d'Agnel

Descent: back to Fuorcla da Flix. Descend eastward (faint path) and traverse as high as possible (caution: névé) below Piz d’Agnel to reach Fuorcla d’Agnel. From there follow the well-marked mountain hiking trail to Julier Hospiz (bus stop). T4, 1350 m (ascent), 1150 m (descent), 6–7 h.
