It is the most popular ski tour in the western part of the Alpstein range above Unterwasser. The terrain is ideal for skiing, as fresh snow stabilises fast due to the southern exposure. But it also melts quickly. So, the perfect time for the tour is a cold day in high winter with enough fresh snow. Later in the season the slopes in the lower part are mostly snow-free.

Route description
From the bus stop Unterwasser, Post (905 m) ascend northward to Chüeboden (1032 m) in the pastures to the west of the Säntisthur. From there, follow the road to Laui (1069 m; pay parking lot). Now go west in the flat valley from Oberlaui to Altstofelrain. Ascend a fairly steep bowl (33° on 100 metres vertical height) to Mutteli (1573 m). Continue westward, on a very steep short stretch (40° on 40 metres of vertical height), to reach a ridge and pass the alp Schofwis to the highest point.
