Climbing on the Schijenzan: Under the imposing main wall of Schijen stands a geological wonder: the slender needle of the Schijenzan. This unlikely sentinel is a remnant of an ancient landslide, half buried in the surrounding debris, that failed to topple. The relatively easy normal route (Southeast Wall), with good rock and wonderful surroundings make this 'Napes Needle' a popular destination for climbers. Together with the Fiamma pinnacle in the Bergell, the Schijenzan is probably the most famous rock spire in the county of Grisons.
