Staldhorn 2462 m Snowshoe tour
Large summit located above the Simplon Pass, to the E of Tochuhorn and Spitzhorli; the latter being much more popular. Viewed from the north, it dominates the deep valley of the Gantertal. A good option in poor conditions; the variable terrain is also favorable for orientation exercises. That said the tour is also recommended in good weather, due to the beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. Chamois often sun bathe on the south-facing rock bands.
