Passing by a well-known climbing mountain to Voralptal
At first we walk from Bergseehütte through a charming landscape full of granite debris and gaze up at the well-known, compact climbing mountain Bergseeschijen. The passage into the basin of the Voralpreuss calls on our climbing skills, as we need to scramble up a rocky step equipped with fixed ropes. Afterwards we traverse a wide face, which is occasionally stony, sometimes green, or even, depending on the season, snow-covered, to reach Voralphütte. A feast for the eyes are the high alpine Sustenhorn, the massive Fleckistock – the highest peak on Uri territory – and Salbitschijen, a summit highly sought after by ambitious sport climbers.

Route description
From Bergseehütte (2370 m) at first go eastward about 200 m, where you leave the cabin access trail in the proximity of a prominent cross to follow a white-blue-white signpost to the left (north-east). Now hike mostly pathless across large block fields to the foot of the imposing east face of Bergseeschijen – which, in nice weather, is roamed by numerous roped parties – and to a 30 m high rocky step. Some chains and iron rungs help to reach the breach at P. 2600 between Bergseeschijen and Hochschijen.
From the breach descend north-east through a depression, then follow the markings showing the way up and down northwards. After another ascent of about 150 m you are in a small breach to the left of Horenfellistock (2581 m).
From the breach at Horenfellistock descend north and slightly steeper, until you reach the bridge across the Schiessend Bach. This bridge is usually dismantled in the fall, which can make the crossing difficult, depending on the water-level (ask the wardens of Bergsee- or Voralphütte). After some hours in rock and scree the trail now leads to beautiful pastures, crosses the Voralpreuss and finally ascends another 70 m to Voralphütte (2126 m).
