Peace and quiet in the valley of Seitental
The first steps towards the Voralphütte lead across the foaming Voralpreuss (river), which will remain a constant companion during the hike. After nine hairpin bends in the forest of Wiggen, the valley opens up at Sand, offering a first look at the impressive Sustenhorn. Signs of devastating landslides are clearly visible on Alp Horefelli. The way remains rocky as you continue via Sunnig Bodmen and Wallenbur, with smaller stream crossing one after the other. A final, steep climb brings you to the terrace of the cozy Voralphütte, which defies both avalanche and storm from its perch upon a rocky shoulder.

SW bank of the Voralpreuss
From Horenfelli it is also possible to cross the stream and follow the SW bank along the valley to the hut. This option leads though a narrow gorge at one point.
