In the heavily glaciated mountain arena above the Steingletscher stand the oft visited and rather accessible summits of Susten- and Gwächtenhorn. In the shadow of these popular destinations, the Tierberg summits (Vorder, Mittler and Hinter Tierberg) live more of a wallflower existence. This trio, however, certainly offer both rewarding and exciting routes. If you are looking for a simple, not too long glacier hike with a delightful final climb over a firn hump, then Vorder Tierberg is a good option. To begin with, a leisurely rise leads up the snow slope towards the Tierberglücke (col); there follows a beautiful scenic climb over a gentle ridge to the summit, which affords imposing views into the Gadmertal. A really enjoyable beginner tour and quite impressionable!
