Managing Director Daniel Marbacher to leave the SAC New career challenge after five years of service to mountain sports

Daniel Marbacher took over the management of the Swiss Alpine Club SAC in June 2018. After five successful years at the helm, he has decided to pursue a new career challenge. He will leave the SAC in spring 2024.

With great personal commitment, Daniel Marbacher has been instrumental in shaping and developing the Swiss Alpine Club SAC in multiple areas: thanks to the launch of the SAC Route Portal and the SAC-CAS App, two new tools for digital tour planning were introduced. At the same time, competitive sports were established as a strategic field of activity within the SAC and the 2023 Climbing World Championships in Bern were a major success. Under the leadership of the now 49-year-old, the SAC administration was professionalised and aligned with the requirements of a digital environment. The adoption of the SAC climate strategy has also set a clear course for the future.

The executive board and administration very much regret the departure of Daniel Marbacher, thank him for his strong commitment to the SAC and wish him every success for the future.

Daniel Marbacher will continue to head the SAC administration as Managing Director until his departure in spring 2024. The recruitment process for a successor will commence in the coming weeks.
