Schwarzhoren / Schwarzhorn (BE) 2928 m Route archive

Highest peak of this pre-alp chain, which bears its name (Black Peak) rightly. From the Breitbodenalp its really looks like a black mountain, which contrasts greatly against the snow covered Gletscherli (lake). From a distance, the mountain appears as a pile of rock rubble with a typical silhouette, a steep drop on the north side and gentle slope to the south. The summit is visited more often than the neighbouring Gärstenhorn or Wildgärst, which is due in part to the via ferrata on the southwest ridge and the marked alpine hiking route along the south ridge.
