Dieser Pass liegt zwischen der Pointe de Combette und der Aiguille des Angroniettes. Er verbindet das Val Ferret (VS) mit dem Val Ferret (AO). Als Übergang hat er keine grosse Bedeutung, wird doch der direktere Grand Col Ferret eindeutig vorgezogen.

Zum Namen: ban = Bann (Gebiet oder Sache, das mit Verboten belegt ist) und darray (von lat. deretro) = hinter, dahinter, zurückgeblieben.
