Graue Wand (Furka) 3171 m Alpine climbing
Striking wall, standing proud between the Gletschhorn and Winterstock summits. Since Max Niedermann's first ascent of the Graue Wand in 1964, the wall has become the playground of the extreme. The Remy Brothers, for example, have put up route after route here over the years. The wall's inspiring beauty and the predominantly good protection make the Graue Wand one of the most popular climbing destinations in the Uri Alps. The same applies to the Red Slabs just beside it. A constant for both walls: they are impressive and dizzying.
