Le Métailler 3212 m Route archive

Le Métailler is an imposing summit which dominates its close neighbours. This mountain also has a glacier, to the NNE of the summit, with the same name. Le Métailler is mostly climbed on skis in the spring. As this summit is very rocky, the summer routes are not so popular.

The name comes from different forms of French dialect, and is derived from "medium" (mi and Heu), and was named after Alpe de Métail and Grenier de Métail which lie in the valley below.

First known tourist ascent: G. Beauverd, A. Chapuisat, November 1892.
