Marwees 2055 m Route archive

This is a massive mountain with a north face interspersed with rocky ledges and grassy slopes dropping steeply down to Seealpsee. The south-east face is made up of grassy slopes. Both faces meet in a 1.5 km long ridge. From P. 1885 at its north-east end a ridge with a number of outcrops runs south-westward to culminate in the Marwees summit. From the mid-1940s climbers have opened routes on Marwees, but these fell into oblivion, as the rock is very brittle. Rewarding climbing routes on solid rock, however, can be found on the wall above Bogartenlücke.
