This is a multifaceted and easy ascent to the perfect mountain for lovers of steep descents. The crux of the tour is the often-huge cornice at Morgetepass, but if you choose the ascent line well, it can be easily overcome. Sometimes one needs to carry skis for a short stretch. As the tour is short, it is often combined with the neighbouring Gemsflue, Schibespitz or Birehubel.
Route description
Gantrischhütte - Morgetepass – Bürgle ascent
From Gantrischhütte (1510 m) ascend in pastures to Obere Gantrischhütte and continue on the trail to Gantrischchummli (ca. 1800 m). Now ascend southward on the valley floor until the steep slopes east of Morgetepass. Ascend steeply, until you can cross the col (sometimes hard or icy descent tracks). Beyond the col ascend to P. 2055 on the south-east ridge making an arc westward. Ascend the south-west slope to the summit.
