Route description

La Fouly - Pierre Javelle - Cabane de l'A Neuve

From La Fouly go to the bridge at P. 1596. Cross the Dranse de Ferret (river) and then continue over the Reuse de l'A Neuve (stream) and past the campsite to P. 1592. Here is where the official hut path begins. Head westward through the forest and bushes between the two streams, Reuse de l'Amône and Reuse de l'A Neuve, climb steadily up to the striking triangular rocky outcrop (P. 2094) and through a chimney to its top (fixed cables). It is also possible to bypass this on the left (S). Cross the Reuse de l’Amône and pass the Pierre Javelle stone (inscription) then climb in numerous zigzags NNW up the slopes of Les Essettes. Shortly before the hut, the path makes a wide loop to the left (W) before swinging back right to a final section secured with fixed chains which leads up to Cabane de l’A Neuve (2734 m). 2 hrs.
