The ski tour from Bisistal to Firsthöreli is a threefold experience: initially the ascent is on a long forest road through a steep forest, then the terrain opens up to reveal the fantastic wide skiing slopes of Galtenäbnet. At the same time, you cross the border between the cantons of Schwyz and Uri. And finally, you have the choice to ascend the prominent Firsthöreli or the gentle Mattner First.
Route description
Schwarzenbach – Firsthöreli
From the Schwarzenbach (955 m) restaurant follow the trail through Gruebiwald via Stäfeli (1544 m) to reach Rüteliegg (1628 m). Traverse south-westward the wide, hilly pastures of Galtenäbnet to the Hüttenboden (1833 m) plain. Ascend east of the alp buildings to reach Siwboden (1878 m). Overcoming an escarpment, ascend westward to the saddle between Mattner First and Firsthöreli. Follow the south ridge to the summit.
Descent
On the ascent, in the lower part do not leave the trail (game reserve)!
