From the Bonistock summit station this is an easy, pretty and short ski tour to a big, rounded hill. The only critical passage is the snow cornice at Chringen. Depending on its size it may pose some problems. The descent is back to the skiing area, usually northward towards Stöckalp.

Route description

Melchsee-Frutt – Hohmad

From the summit station (1927 m) of the Melchsee-Frutt aerial cableway follow the winter hiking trail to Müllerenhütte on the shores of Melchsee. Passing below the Bonistock aerial cableway, go eastward along the rock bar to reach Chringen (2152 m), a snow-covered breach. From there ascend north-eastward, initially on the ridge, then on the wide summit plateau to reach the highest point.

Variant from Bonistock

The Chringen breach can also be reached within 15 min. from the Bonistock (2163 m) summit station. The ascent is ca. 350 metres of vertical height.

Descent

On the ascent back to Chringen, and from there north-westward to the skiing area and on steep ski runs down to Stöckalp.

In winter, the Stöckalp - Melchsee-Frutt road is closed.

There is one-way traffic on the narrow mountain road from Stöckalp. You can drive uphill for forty minutes to the even hours, downhill for forty minutes to the odd hours, for example from Stöckalp from 08.00 - 08.40 and from Melchsee-Frutt from 17.00 -17.40.
