Both in summer and winter a popular tour, connecting the two huts Bächlitalhütte zur Gaulihütte. The last section up to the pass has fixed ladders.

Route description

Bächlihütte - Obri Bächlilicken (pass)

From the Bächlitalhütte (2328 m) follow a clear track westward to the Bächligletscher (glacier). Climb up along its northern edge to reach the flat glacier plateau ca. 2600 m. Leave the glacier and climb westsouthwest up the steep scree slope, beneath the Undri Bächlilicken, before gaining the glacier once more. Continue diagonally (southwest) beneath the Gross Diamantstock until just below the pass. Depending on snow conditions, a 20 to 30 m high slab (ladders) leads now directly up to the gap.

Descent to Gaulihütte

When traversing from the Bächlitalhütte to the Gaulihütte, expect 2 hrs for the descent from the Obri Bächlilicken.
