This easy ski tour begins by riding the Muottas Muragl funicular. The ascent is rewarded by the splendid view to the mountains of the Bernina range.
Route description
Muottas Muragl summit station – ski depot
From the Muottas Muragl summit station (2454 m) follow the winter hiking trail eastward crossing the Tschimas da Muottas ridge. Then on the summer trail ascend to Lej Muragl (2715 m). Turn southward to reach the bowl north of Piz Clüx via Gianda Viva. Ascend this bowl northward until, at ca. 3000 m, you can traverse westward to a shoulder in the ridge. Leave your skis at ca. 3070 m.
Ski depot - summit
From the ski depot follow the ridge, which is often swept snow-free by the wind, to reach the summit.
Descent
On the ascent to Gianda Viva, then follow Val Muragl to the alp Tegia Muragl (2093 m). Cross the Ova da Muragl to ski down to Punt Muragl (1738 m), initially through the forest, then on open slopes. Please respect the game reserve in the lower Val Muragl.
