This is a pretty ski tour for beginners, which, despite its shortness and the low altitude, offers alpine scenery. The slopes under the summit are steep. Depending on the conditions, it is recommended to negotiate the last few metres on foot. The tour can be undertaken with little snow, as the lower part of the descent is on the ski runs of the Roggen ski lift.
Route description
Tschalun - Roggenstock
From the Oberiberg, Tschalun (1068 m) bus stop ascend in the pastures of Schattenberg past Gütsch to reach a dirt road. From there keep left to a ridge which leads up to Jäntli. Continue to P. 1484 and the forest road. Now on the summer trail traverse the west-facing slope, overcome an escarpment and ascend north-eastward towards the south-west ridge. Slightly left of the ridge ascend to the summit, the last stretch possibly on foot.
Descent
On the ascent. If there is not enough snow in the lower part, from Grossweid (ca. 1300 m) you can traverse north-eastward on an alp access road to the ski runs of the Roggen ski lift. Ski down to Oberiberg on these ski runs.
