The tour begins with gentle slopes, dotted with rocky outcrops. In fog, routefinding in this section can be difficult. A steeper slope then leads to the broad summit ridge and summit. A good alternative tour, oft frequented in poor conditions. Beautiful views of the beautiful peaks surrounding it.

Route description

Hospice - summit

From the Simplonpass bus stop, Monte Leone, head north through rough terrain (orientation difficult), to reach the hamlet of Hopsche. Continue west, reaching some steeper terrain which leads to P. 2165, turn sharply to the right and climb NE, diagonally up beneath the SE slopes of Tochuhorn. Avoid Gälmji pass (2372 m) on your left and follow the wide ridge that leads directly to the summit of Staldhorn (2462 m).
