From the Sunnbüel summit station of the aerial cableway the route to Unders Tatelishorn is «U»-shaped. After skiing down to Spittelmatte, there is a short, steep ascent through the Sagiwald forest and on to the Sagiweid plateau and Tatele. Here you are directly vis-à-vis the Sunnbüel starting point and at the foot of the mighty 1500 m high north-west face of Altels. After ascending the summit slope of Unders Tatelishore with its perfect inclination, there is a spectacular view deep down to the Gasteretal and Kandertal valleys. If the ascent is chosen carefully, the avalanche risk is minimal.

Route description

Sunnbüel - Unders Tatelishore
From the summit station of the aerial cableway use the ski runs to ski down to Spittelmatte (bridge at P. 1872). Cross the Schwarzbach and ascend southward to Sagiwald. Following the summer trail, from the south-west corner of the forest continue ascending north-eastward to Sagiweid. Pass between P. 2167 and P. 2213 and descend a few metres into the ditch of a creek. On the other side traverse north-eastward to Tatelen, then, slightly steeper, ascend to the saddle between Obers and Unders Tatelishore. Following the south-east ridge, at the end on foot, you easily reach the summit.
Descent
On the ascent; there is a short re-ascent back to Sagiweid and a longer one (60 metres of vertical height) from Spittelmatte to Sunnbüel.
Descent to Eggeschwand
If there is sufficient snow and the conditions are safe, you can ski down to Eggeschwand. From the saddle (1927 m) at Winteregg follow the Wintertäli valley and pass below Stock on the ski run to reach the east-facing slopes north of the Alpbach. On these slopes you reach Eggeschwand, the bottom station of the aerial cableway (plus 730 metres of vertical height downhill).
