Below the aerial cableway, but worthwhile nevertheless
Who is keen on hiking below an aerial cableway? There are several reasons to do that: to enjoy a wild, beautiful landscape, save money, exercise, enjoy the silence, discover alpine agriculture, and explore rock dwellings… Whatever reason you choose: hiking up from San Carlo to Capanna Basodino is more than a quirk, it is a really good idea.
Route description
San Carlo – Capanna Basodino
From the bus stop S. Carlo Ponte follow the small road up to a hairpin bend. There a dirt road branches off winding its way up to a water inlet. Cross the Bavona on a bridge and hike up on the other bank through the forest until about 1360 m, where another bridge crosses the creek again leading to the mountain pasture huts of Campo. Now follow the Bavona past several remains of alpine farming and up a last steep step to the cabin.
