Through a steep forest into the sunshine in an efficient way
From the summit station of the small aerial cableway at Monti di Saurù a good trail leads up through a steep forest following the ridge between Riviera and Valle di Lumino. In the upper part it makes an arc to the left, and when it traverses back to the right we soon reach the timber line and the cabin.
Route description
Monti di Saurù – Capanna Brogoldone (direct trail)
From the summit station of the cableway ascend to the ridge and follow the marked trail, which at first gains height only gradually. After about 10 minutes, from 1400 m on, the trail ascends steeply through the sometimes stony forest. At 1720 m the trail keeps left, traverses the slope for a short while and then ascends again, occasionally zigzagging. From 1800 m it leads to the right out of the forest and to the cabin nearby.
Variant via Alpe Domàs
30 minutes longer, less steep, but not less interesting and suited for the descent is the alternative: from Monti di Saurù ascend to P. 1392 and from there in a wide curve to the left hike to the cabin via the ruins of Alpe Domàs.
