Route description
Morenia cable car station - Start
From the concrete block of the cable car station Morenia (2572 m) get out onto the scree slope where the Fee Glacier used to be. A yellow sign points to Saas Fee. Follow the hiking trail for a very short time, then turn right onto the white-blue-white marked trail (sign: "via ferrata"). This traverses easily up and down beneath the striking Egginer; a small rock ridge is taken care of with a few steel cables. Behind this, the Swiss flag on the northwest ridge of the Mittaghorn comes into view, which marks the beginning of the ridge route. Cross the wide hollow and then climb the first steel cables to reach the flagpole (ca. 2680m).
