The ascent to the long Strahlbann ridge (in winter the eastern summit 2689 m is the target) is initially through the sparse vegetation beside the ski-lifts. Then one leaves the installations to ascend on open slopes to enter picturesque high mountain scenery.
Route description
Bosco Gurin – Strahlbann
From Bosco Gurin (ca. 1480 m) or from the parking lot of the ski-lifts behind the characteristic row of stables ascend north-westward. Follow the ski-run via Eggu towards the bottom station of a ski-lift, then ascend via Carmunascht (1730 m) to Teil (1870 m). Turn right (northward) to ascend the wide slopes of Bort with sparse vegetation until you reach Bann close to P. 2145. This point can also be reached by traversing horizontally at ca. 2200 m from Capanna Grossalp (1907 m). Alternatively, descend from the summit station of the Guriner Furggu ski-lift (2230 m) to ca. 2100 m. Then pass below the E ridge of Pizzo Stella close to P. 2202.
Now ascend northward to ca. 2200, then eastward in a valley to reach Herli Sattel (ca. 2420 m) north of Heij Bärg (2472 m). From this point ascend northward to the beginning of the ridge, which comes down from the summit. Turn slightly eastward to ascend the SE slopes up to the summit (P. 2689). The last slope is very steep and often negotiated on foot.
