Several summits in one sweep

The long ridge between Eggerhorn and Holzjihorn provides an almost complete view of Binntal deep below. This valley is world-famous for its mineral richness. Several sulfosalt minerals have only been found here. Besides minerals the valley offers a rich flora and fauna. The majority of the valley is a nature park, which includes an eco-friendly, extensive agriculture. Before the construction of a road tunnel Binn was in winter often isolated from the main valley due to avalanche danger.

Route description

Binn – Eggerhorn
From above the Reservoir of Binn follow the marked and gently ascending hiking and mountain trails on the wooded face, then via Sattulti to Eggerhorn, the first summit.
Eggerhorn – P. 2716 – Holzjihorn
From Eggerhorn follow the grassy ridge on faint, intermittent paths and continue fairly steeply to Grosses Fülhorn. On certain segments sheep tracks run parallel to the path. South of the ridge, on the Binntal side, traverse the wide grassy slopes just above the slab and schist slopes. At P. 2716 the marked trail branches off to Fäldbach valley. From P. 2716 do not descend yet, but continue on faint paths. About 150 m after P. 2716 descend 40 m diagonally and traverse just below the rocky ledges of P. 2832 to the summit slope of Holzjihorn. Ascending on scree and grass you reach again the ridge north of P. 2793. Now follow the ridge to the summit.
P. 2716 – Holzjihorn – beginning of the mountain hiking trail at ca. 2550 m
Descend on the same route until below the rocky ledges of P. 2832. Then descend directly on the steep, grassy slopes interspersed with scree. At ca. 2550 m you meet the more or less continuous marked path leading down to Fäldbach.
Beginning of the mountain hiking trail at ca. 2550 m – Binn
From ca. 2550 m descend on the marked mountain hiking trail to Fäldbach. Now the more distinct mountain trail on the left bank of the creek leads to Fäld. From there hike back to Binn on hiking trails.
Variant via P. 2834
At the bifurcation in the saddle at P. 2716 ascend to P. 2832 and follow the ridge (faint trail). Bypass exposed, narrow passages on the south face. Slightly longer than the main route, T4+.
Alternative descent from Hozjihorn
From Holzjihorn descend in the fall line of the summit and on grassy slopes to Fäldbach. Continue pathless to the mountain trail, which begins in the proximity of P. 2364. Equally long and difficult as the main route.
